Built towards the end of the 18th century, Le Vieux Relais started life as a Coaching Inn sitting on the edge of the village square, today it is a well situated relaxing oasis that affords a unique insight into French village life.
The sunlit swimming pool and terrace are completely enclosed and situated within the walled courtyard garden, providing added security. We provide sun loungers, umbrellas and garden furniture for guests to relax both on the pool terrace and in the garden. There is also a covered ‘salon d’ete’ or summer sitting room next to the dining terrace.
The outside dining terrace has been converted from the old stables and provides a relaxed 'inside/outside' dining experience to sample the wonderful food and wine of the Languedoc. We showcase local food and wine as far as possible in our dinner menus. A three-course meal is available several nights each week and Mike's delicious barbecues are a feature of the long summer evenings. Our guests love to come back after a day out, have a refreshing dip and relax on a sun lounger by the pool then meet for drinks and dinner, many a good night has been enjoyed by all!

Why do we love this part of France?
We are passionate about this southern region of France, often called the ‘heart of authentic France’ which has been a well-kept secret for Francophone visitors for many years. The Languedoc offers something for everyone, from beautiful and usually uncrowded sandy beaches to history, culture and gastronomy. The locals are very proud of their region and we in turn are proud to provide our guests with an insight into what life is really like in rural France. It's not unheard of for our local vigneron (wine maker) to call by and tell us he will be starting the first part of his wine making process that morning and would our guests like to come and watch. This is of course followed by a tasting of last year’s production! We wanted to live in a working village, we wanted to integrate into life here and we think we’ve achieved that.
We are very well placed right in the middle of the region, as many guests have said 'in the middle of everywhere'. It was always our intention to provide a central base for our guests to enable them to stay here for several days, or more, and see most of what the area has to offer on day trips rather than moving on every day (Val's pet hate after years of corporate travel!).
